AKBAR GBAJA-BIAMILA is the host of NBC's four time Emmy nominated series American Ninja Warrior, Universal Kid’s spin off show, American Ninja Warrior Jr as well as NFL Networks' highest rated show, NFL Fantasy Live.


Akbar is also the author of Everyone Can Be A Ninja, his first book, which came out in May of 2019 The L.A. native grew up in the Crenshaw district as one of 7 children to Nigerian immigrant parents.


His first name means “great” in Arabic and his last name means “big man come save me”. Akbar played 5 years in the NFL splitting his time with the Raiders, Chargers and the Dolphins, before transitioning to broadcasting in 2008.


Gbaja-Biamila currently serves as a board member for the Asomugha Foundation and the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
