Settling into New York Oh my gosh! It has been a whirlwind since being crowned as Miss USA! I'm just wrapping up my media tour and it has been a blast! I volunteered at Project Sunshine today, making packets full of goodies for children in hospitals. That is something I really enjoy about being Miss USA, helping others. I also visited Gilda's Club today, which helps support people living with cancer amongst other things. Being a spokesperson for breast and ovarian cancer is very important to me because I have had too many family members and friends die of this horrible disease. I am finally getting used to the New York life. Everything is much more fast-paced compared to Texas. I am still confused about how to catch a cab. It all depends on which light is on or off, etc. I got into a "gypsy cab" the other day and he charged me fifteen dollars just to go two blocks! I thought it was a ridiculous price but a lesson well learned...stick to the yellow cabs :) I am on my way to Washington, DC for the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner. I am thrilled and honored to be able to attend such an event. I then head to California after that for the Young Hollywood Awards. I can't wait to see which celebrities I get to meet! I really enjoy reading and responding to all the fan emails. It is a goal of mine to respond to all of them. I truly appreciate those that take the time to congratulate me or just to say "hi." I feel the least I can do is reply back. I have already learned a lot during my first two weeks as Miss USA and hopefully one day, I will learn how to catch a cab too. LOL! Posted by Crystle |
